Academy of Singapore Teachers
The Academy of Singapore Teachers was launched on 6 September 2010 by Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister for Education and Second Minister for Defence, at the Teachers’ Conference 2010. The Academy, established by the Ministry of Education, aims to build a teacher-led culture of professional excellence.
Updates on Programme for Active Learning
Another 24 primary schools will implement the Programme for Active Learning in 2011. Since its prototype phase this year, the initiative has received positive feedback and helped to develop pupils' social emotional competencies.
2010 President's Award for Teachers
Four exemplary teachers received the 2010 President's Award for Teachers on 1 September, in recognition of their commitment towards the total development of students and to nation-building. These teachers played multiple roles of educating, leading, caring and inspiring to prepare their students for the future.
National Day Rally 2010
Following the National Day Rally 2010, MOE announced several initiatives to provide students with more educational opportunities and a greater choice of pathways to suit their needs, academic abilities and aptitude. MOE will enhance school infrastructure to support holistic education as well as create more pathways in the secondary and higher education sectors.
