Singaporeans Going Overseas

Singaporeans who will be out of the country for a period of time can consider the following schemes for their children:

Leave of Absence Scheme

Singaporeans planning to go overseas for work or related concerns may reserve school places for their children in their current schools under the Leave of Absence (LOA) Scheme. The children can be readmitted directly to their schools when they return.

Boarding Award Scheme

Singapore Citizens going overseas for work or related concerns but prefer their children to attend school in Singapore can apply for the Boarding Award Scheme (BAS).

The BAS offers Singapore Citizens attending secondary schools, junior colleges and Millennia Institute in Singapore the benefits of a Singapore education while living in hostels in Singapore whilst their parents are working or living overseas. MOE will help to place applicants into school-based hostels and pay for 50% or 100% of the hostel boarding fees.
